Take a DEEP breath! Standardized Testing for our 3rd graders begin this week. The most important “take-aways” from these tests are:

  1. Don’t stress out about these tests – your child can sense your anxiety, so reassure them to do their very best, that’s all we can expect from any of us.
  2. Get a good night’s rest. Put your child to bed early.
  3. Eat a healthy breakfast and pack a good lunch with plenty of healthy snacks. Food is fuel for our brains…..splurge on the premium over the next few weeks.

My personal philosophy is to keep your child’s scores to yourself. You do not want your child attaching a number to their ability. Use the information to help you understand where your child may need some extra support.

Tuesday, April 28:

  • English – Language Arts – California Assessment Test for ALL 3rd graders 10:00 – 12:00

Wednesday, April 29:

  • Swimming Lessons: Please have your child wear their swim suit to school, underneath their clothing. Send a bag with dry undergarments and a towel separately.
  • Parents joining us this week: Tina Cook and Todd Bassett
  • English – Language Arts – Performance Task (Part 1) for ALL 3rd graders 2:00 – 3:00

Thursday, April 30:

  • Fieldwork to Glenshire/Agroecology: Leaving SELS at 12:15
  • Parent drivers: Dave Sick, Sarah Adams, Tina Cook, Tina Bassett, Jen Wilkin, Caren Schatz
  • English – Language Arts – Performance Task (Part 2) for ALL 3rd graders 2:00 – 3:00

Friday, May 1:

  • Homework due
  • Book Bags due

Saturday, May 2:

  • Garden Work Party at SELS
  • 10:00 – 2:00
  • SELS “grasslands” area behing M-12 (Seaborg/Minczeski room)
