We recently spoke with TTUSD about student transportation and are passing on what we learned. We have been assured that they will do everything possible to accommodate Sierra Expeditionary Learning School (SELS) students. Due to the busing times, our school day will run from 9:15am start to 3:25pm finish. Kindergarten will be released at 1:25pm. There will be morning on-site supervision beginning at 8:45 am.

Routes are defined by the school they serve, and will be similar to last year.  In general, buses will stop at TTUSD schools first and then drop students off at SELS.  Similarly, they will pick up students at Truckee El first and then proceed to SELS.  For more specific information on routes (stops and times), please see the TTUSD transportation web site.

¹ 'SPED' Bus will be used (as called by TTUSD), a smaller bus taking special education students.

Morning pick up:

Truckee Elementary routes:
SELS students will ride buses to Truckee El and then continue on to SELS Arrival time at SELS: approx. 9:05 am
Glenshire Elementary routes:
SELS students will ride buses to Glenshire El and then continue to SELS. Arrival time at SELS: approx. 9:15 am
Kings Beach routes:
SELS students will ride¹ from KB Elementary directly to Truckee El.  The bus will then proceed to SELS. Arrival time at SELS: approx. 9:05 am
Tahoe City routes:
SELS students will ride¹ from TL Elementary or NTS directly to Truckee El.  The bus will then proceed to SELS. Arrival time at SELS: approx. 9:05 am
** SELS students in Truckee El before-school enrichment will be able to ride one of the 9 am buses from there to SELS.  Due to TTUSD regulation, these students will need a bus pass.

Afternoon drop-off:

Truckee Elementary routes: 
SELS students will ride buses from SELS to their home neighborhoods. Pick up time at SELS: approx. 3:25 pm  (check TTUSD website for neighborhood drop-off times)
Glenshire Elementary routes:
SELS students will ride¹ to Glenshire and then to their home neighborhoods. Pick up time at SELS: approx. 3:25 pm  (check TTUSD website for neighborhood drop-off times)
Kings Beach routes:
SELS students will ride¹ to KBE. Pick up time at SELS: approx. 3:25 pm  (approx. arrival 4:05 pm)
Tahoe City routes:
SELS students will ride¹ to TL Elementary or NTS. Pick up time at SELS: approx. 3:25 pm  (approx. arrival 4:05 pm)
** There will be a bus taking students to the Recreation Center.  SELS students can also ride this bus. Pick up time at SELS: approx. 3:25 pm**

Kindergarten will have transportation to all Truckee Elem. stops, including the Recreation Center.  They will also have transportation to KBE and TLE or NTS (approx. arrival 2:05 pm).  There is currently no after school Kinder transportation to Glenshire. Pick up time at SELS: approx. 1:25 pm  (check TTUSD website for neighborhood drop-off times)

NOTE: All students riding the bus will need a pass. There are purchasing days at school locations, you can stop into the transportation offices, or you can pay on-line.  You will save money if you purchase passes before Sept 1, 2010.  Please go to the TTUSD web site for more information.
