Eric Strecker, Chair
Eric has worked for the California Highway Patrol for the past 15 years and is currently a Patrol Sergeant in the Truckee office. Beyond his daily duties, he is the liaison for IRONMAN, Lake Tahoe. Eric has previously worked in various locations around the state, including headquarters assignments in the CHP’s Internal Affairs Section and Judicial Protection Section. He has been trained as a Drug Recognition Evaluator and attended the Robert Presley Institute of Criminal Investigation. Prior to his employment with the state, Eric worked for his Alma Mater as the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations at Saint Mary’s College of California. Eric is an avid outdoor enthusiast, husband, and proud father of two adorable girls.
Kim Bradley, Vice Chair
Kim has lived and worked in Truckee for over 18 years. Her background is in collaboration, community organizing, project development, grant writing and meeting facilitation. She has worked in various roles with Tahoe Truckee social service and educational organizations, including: the Community Collaborative of Tahoe Truckee, Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD), Community and Youth Development Coordinator, Tahoe Safe Alliance Prevention Program Coordinator, Education Matters and the Truckee Parent Co-Op. She played a key role in the creation of the KidZone, North Tahoe and Truckee Family Resource Centers, TTUSD Wellness Program and the Sierra Expeditionary Learning School. Currently, Kim works as the TTUSD Wellness Coordinator. She is responsible for overseeing Wellness Centers at the three district high schools. She is focused on creating more wellness support systems for high school students and their families. She has a B.S. in Human Development from U.C. Davis. Kim and her husband, Mike, have two children. They love being a part of the Truckee community and enjoy family cross-country skiing, hiking and camping adventures.
Maria Leftwich, Treasurer
Maria has been an attorney since 1997. She moved to Truckee in 2010 from Sonoma County where she worked as a prosecutor for 10 years before becoming a defense attorney. Her current work is focused on statewide criminal appeals. She previously served as a board member for Girls on the Run, Sonoma County, coached a local team for Odyssey of the Mind, and is a volunteer at the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. Maria, her husband Rob and their son Parker are happy to be an active part of this community and enjoy all the activities the outdoors has to offer.
Krista Strecker, Secretary
Erica’s experience includes being a summer camp Director/CFO and a Registered Nurse. She graduated with a BS in Nursing from California State University, Chico. Currently Erica works as the CFO of Walton’s Grizzly Lodge Summer Camp, and part-time as a nurse at the hospital. At the camp, Erica manages the budget (with operating expenses of over $2 million), accounts payable/receivable, and payroll. In addition, she is an on-site Director, responsible for the safety and well-being of one thousand campers each summer. Erica’s professional affiliations include serving as a Board Member for the Western Association of Independent Camps and membership in the KidZone Foundation Guild. Erica and her husband have three children.
Christopher is the owner of Mountain Mental Health, a private practice offering mental health counseling services to the Truckee-Tahoe community. He is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Christopher is also an Instructor at Sierra College, where he teaches Psychology and Personal Development classes. He is bilingual, speaking English and Spanish. Christopher has a B.A. degree in International Relations from the College of William and Mary. He has M.Ed. and Ed.S. degrees, both in Mental Health Counseling, from the University of Virginia. Since 1988, Christopher has been involved in Experiential Education. He began by creating and running an Adventure Program for a summer camp in Virginia. He spent many years guiding international rafting and trekking trips in the United States, Chile, Peru, Nepal and Zimbabwe. Christopher was also an Instructor and Course Director for the Colorado Outward Bound School. He continues to incorporate experiential learning in both the classes he teaches and in his work as a therapist. Christopher has been a member of the Association for Experiential Education (AEE) since 2001. He is currently the Secretary for the Leadership Council of the Adventure Therapy Professional Group at AEE. Christopher sees his most important roles as being a loving father and husband. He and his wife, Katie, have lived in Truckee since 2005. They are happy to be raising their three children in such an amazing mountain community. The Old family enjoys spending time playing together on the trails, lakes and ski slopes of the Tahoe area.
Sara has lived and worked in the Lake Tahoe area since 1996. After graduating from U.C. Santa Barbara with a B.S. in Psychology, she moved to the area to take advantage of the fresh air and to play in the outdoors. In 2002, inspired by a passion for creativity, Sara started Bellissima Floral, a design company specializing in creative, unique florals for special events. After 12 years of growing and operating a successful and respected business, Sara chose to retire her company to dedicate more energy to the family. Other professional successes include ventures in the hospitality industry. Sara worked in various roles at PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn, gaining expertise in food, wine, and fine dining etiquette. She was also an integral player on the leadership teams for two boutique restaurants during their start up endeavors. Currently she is focused on raising her two children with her husband Steve and enjoys hiking, snowboarding, crafting and kitchen arts. Sara is dedicated to the continued success of SELS and proud to be a contributor to the Truckee community.
